Magnesium-Citrate For Pets

My cat ended up at the vet with constipation. The initial vet actually misdiagnosed him as having a cancerous mass in his colon. thanks to my vet of 20 years (not close enough now to examine) and a specialist, we found it was not a tumor at all but large hard fecal balls. After dealing with the problem at hand, my vet and the specialist helped worked out a plan that would keep him regular. My own use of magnesium caused me to ask them about it. I live in the states, but this is the only product my vet would approve as having the right amount of magnesium to help but not so much as to be toxic. It, along with a prescription drug Cisapride, has kept him completely regular and healthy. I can't say what a relief it is to have this product--it could mean the difference between life and death for my cat, especially as he won't take any of the more common laxatives or substances that draw water into the bowel. He doesn't notice this being mixed with his wet food at all (especially with a few slivers of shrimp as incentive :) ). This company has been great to work with, and it's worth the postage to the states to keep my boy healthy.

We've started giving magnesium citrate to our 11 year old male dog who's got a swollen heart. We noticed immediate improvement - from the first dose - in his ability to breathe, his coughing lessened greatly, he's able to run longer distances without retching & gasping for air. We add it to his food, as well as wet his treats & dip it in the magnesium. He's had no problems taking it.
