Bettina was concerned that her mare Liza had been unsound for 2 years and had problems with short-stepping, shoulder stiffness and abnormal striding. She tried a variety of supplements including nutraceuticals with no results. She asked Marijke for help and after reviewing her case it was apparent to her that all of these symptoms were being caused by hoof problems. Liza’s soles were flat, the heel bulbs were dry, the hoof walls were bruised and flared and her toe was bulbous.
We eliminated all alfalfa from her diet, put her on the Circu+Plus (pine bark extract and magnesium) for circulation and inflammation and started her on a course of healthy trims. Within a few months all of Liza’s symptoms disappeared and her head was always up instead of down! This New Year Bettina has been slowly starting to ride Liza -after a 6 week absence – and she is feeling super. She had an equine massage therapist check her out and Liza was perfect! The therapist also noticed how quiet and nice she is walking. After that Bettina told her about Liza’s soreness and lameness due to her hooves. Bettina still can’t believe it! Bettina writes to Marijke: “Thank you for saving my horse! Liza means a lot to me!
